Wind Certification of Mechanical Equipment: What you need to know to be wind compliant

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020

Since Miami-Dade County chose to require wind calculations of mechanical equipment in 2019, many manufactures are looking for means to comply.  This webinar discusses the various means of wind compliance with Florida and other state building codes, how to achieve wind certification, when testing is required, and what documentation to submit to projects to ensure rapid approval.

Why Your Equipment Needs Seismic Compliance

How does a manufacturer achieve seismic compliance across multiple jurisdictions and facility types? Seismic resistance is an integral part of building design in moderate to severe earthquake regions; additionally, when it came to nonstructural components and systems, the code requirements contained a “blind spot.” However in the late 2000s, when California hospitals started requiring shake table testing, many other jurisdictions followed suit.

This webinar will review the history of seismic requirements and demonstrate the best ways for manufacturers and equipment sales representatives to comply.

Topics include:

  • Required shake table testing
  • Answers from Analysis
  • Experience Data

TRU Compliance is the accredited product certification agency of Structural Integrity Associates, with a certification scheme covering seismic, wind, and blast performance of non-structural components and systems. Our engineers are experts in the structural performance of non-structural systems under extreme loads and subjects those systems to industry-leading testing and assessment. Our certification group has tested over 800 components, certified over 25,000 individual products, and completed over 100 OSHPD OSP certification programs. Products bearing the TRU Compliance mark have been documented to withstand extreme events and maintain structural integrity and functionality.

TRU Compliance Achieves Accreditation as a Product Certification Body

TRU Compliance Listed

TRU Compliance achieves accreditation from the International Accreditation Service (IAS) as a product certification body for seismic, wind, and blast/physical security performance of nonstructural components. In addition, according to the International Accreditation Service, we are the second company to be certified for Seismic performance of non-structural components. However, we are the first company to be certified for Wind and Blast/Physical Security performance.

Scope of Accreditation

Seismic Wind and Physical Security performance for non-structural components

Domestic and international manufacturers contract TRU Compliance to test products and equipment required to achieve high performance during and after earthquakes, high wind events, terrorist attacks, and accidental explosions.

TRU Compliance’s clients that are worldwide leaders in the manufacturing and distribution of electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, power production, medical diagnostic and treatment, life safety, water treatment, building facade, and perimeter security products.  Products achieving the rigorous TRU Compliance standard bear the TRU Compliance logo and achieve a certification listing on trucompliance.com. Once listed, surveillance and sampling confirm ongoing production continues to produce products meeting compliance requirements.
